BIRMINGHAM, England - Police stormed a home before dawn Wednesday and used a stun gun to subdue a man who a witness and media reports said was suspected of being one of the four who carried out the failed July 21 transit bombings in London.

DAC Peter Clarke, head of the Met's Anti-Terrorist Branch, has confirmed that the man arrested in Birmingham was Yasin Hassan Omar.
The 24-year-old Somalian, suspected of trying to blow up a Tube train near Warren Street last Thursday, was captured in a dramatic armed raid by police and MI5.

Omar was felled with a Taser stun gun when officers stormed the safehouse where he was hiding in Birmingham.

Around 100 homes were then evacuated as the bomb squad moved in, sparking fears that the man had been on the verge of blowing himself up.

Omar is the first of the July 21 suicide squad suspects to be caught.
